I recently attended an event that brought together Christians from various denominations. There, I met a foreigner and, during our conversation, discovered that he is a missionary pastor in Japan. When I introduced myself and mentioned our church in Yokohama, he smiled and said he already knew me. He shared that every Sunday he uses our online services with his own congregation. With few members in their church, they gather in his living room, worship online together with us, and then participate in fellowship and Bible study in small groups.
Most unreached people groups lack resources – both human and material – in their native language to spread the Gospel. This means they do not have a local community of believers equipped to share the message of Christ within their own group. That is why it is essential to invest our time and funds to spread God’s Word in every possible way.
Online broadcasts have also been a blessing for new churches, allowing them to focus on pastoral care while worshiping together with the body of Christ elsewhere. A few months ago, we were contacted by a group of Japanese believers who gather as a church in Vietnam. Since they don’t have a pastor to minister the Word or a worship team, they have been using our online services every Sunday as their primary source of teaching and worship.
These virtual gatherings have proven to be a powerful tool both for evangelization – reaching people who otherwise would not have access to the message – and for strengthening developing churches in remote locations.
The Holy Spirit continues to work in willing hearts, connecting us as His Church despite physical and geographical obstacles. May we keep innovating and dedicating our resources so that more lives are reached and transformed by God’s love.
