Spain is one of the European countries that receives the most immigrants. For many, it’s also one of the most beautiful and admired countries in the world. A land full of history, vibrant culture, iconic cities, and warm, welcoming people.
But behind all that cultural richness, there’s a spiritual reality that few people really see — and it should deeply touch the heart of the Brazilian church.
According to data published by Evangelical Focus, based on research from EVAF (Evangelism in Depth), only 1.6% of Spain’s population identifies as evangelical Christian. That means Spain is officially considered an unreached nation, with very little transforming Christian presence across the country.
To give you an idea of how big this challenge is: even though the country recently passed the mark of 1,000 municipalities with some evangelical presence, there are still 7,124 towns with no evangelical church at all. On top of that, there are 542 cities with more than 5,000 inhabitants where there isn’t even a single evangelical witness.
That’s the spiritual reality of Spain: thousands of cities, towns, and entire neighborhoods where the Gospel is not being preached — where generations are growing up without ever hearing that Jesus Christ saves, heals, and transforms.
In the face of such urgency, the words of our Lord echo strongly:
“Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.” (Matthew 9:38)
Dear brother, dear sister, this is a direct call to us. Spain needs intercessors. It needs churches willing to stand in the gap. It needs missionaries who will plant churches. It needs partners who will send, support, and believe.
So I invite you — with love and reverence before the Lord — to lift up a cry for this European nation that is so in need of the Gospel. Pray that the Holy Spirit would spark a movement of church planting, that new workers would be sent, and that lives would be reached where today there is spiritual silence.
And beyond praying, I also invite you and your church to support this missionary movement financially. Your support can help send more workers to places where today there isn’t even a Christian community to testify about Jesus.
Spain is a vast field. The harvest is ready. The call for missionaries is urgent. May God touch your heart — and may the Brazilian church respond with generosity, faith, and commitment to the Great Commission.
